Sharon will offer -

  • Personalised nutrition plans to suit training requirements and physiological aims (body composition changes).
  • Skin fold measurement by ISAK accredited practitioner.
  • Monitoring of dietary changes using online or ordinary diaries.
  • Assessment of energy expenditure using sense wear armbands.
  • Dietary treatments of various clinical issues (coeliac, diabetes, weight loss, cholesterol, FODMAPs for IBS etc)
  • Integration of sports nutrition
  • With other service provides at clinic.

Sharon Madigan studied and worked at the University of Ulster before qualifying in clinical dietetics. From there she went on to work as a Community Dietitian in Belfast where she gained experience in a range of clinical conditions, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, health promotion and nutrition education. She also runs a clinical service through Exwell medical at DCU.

From 2003-present she has worked as the performance nutritionist with the High Performance Boxing Team working with young developing boxers right up to our elite international team. The squad has had unprecedented success at all levels including European, World and Olympic games since 2003. An active interest in "making weight" sports means that she is now working with a number of other athletes in sports such as rowing, judo, cycling and endurance sports.

From 2002-2009 Sharon helped deliver nutrition services at the Sports Institute Northern Ireland to a range of funded athletes. Part of this role included the provision of nutrition education to the Ulster Rugby Academy, Hockey, Sailing, Triathlon, swimming etc. Since from 2008-2011 has also was the performance dietitian with the Senior Ulster Rugby Team. She has been involved with a number of County and Club GAA teams over the last number of years.

She took up a position as performance nutritionist with the Irish Institute of Sport in 2010 and is currently an accredited member of the Irish Institute of Sport. She is responsible for delivery and coordination of nutrition services for elite Irish athletes across a range of Olympic and Paralympic sports at the institute of sport. She lectures Sports Nutrition and Health and Nutrition at Dublin City University in the School of Health and Human Performance. She is currently a member of the sports science and medical team of the Olympic Council of Ireland and was the performance nutritionist with the Irish Team in London.
